Enable-Archive: Mailbox x cannot be Archive enabled with Managed Folders Policy

When I tried to enable archiving for a specific user in Exchange 2010, the following error occurred:

Error:
Mailbox ‘Peter.Petrelli’ cannot be Archive enabled with Managed Folders Policy. Archives are supported only with Retention Policy.

List users in a domain with their creation date

A colleague recently asked me a list of all employees in our company, and their date of hire. As I work at an IT department, I do not have everyones contract. However, I do have the creation date of every account. Since we create accounts a few dates before the date of hire, I could easily create a list of accounts and creation dates in the Exchange Management Shell (Powershell):

Object is read only because… when removing Public Folder Database in Exchange 2007

During the transition of Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, the following error may occur when trying to remove the Public Folder database:

Error: Object is read only because it was created by a future version of Exchange: 0.10 (14.0.100.0). Current supported version is 0.1 (8.0.535.0).

When trying to perform one of these actions

  • move a mailbox from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010, or
  • creating a new mailbox for a user in Exchange 2010,

the following error may occur:

Suppress Autodiscover window in Outlook 2007

When you have configured Exchange 2007 / Outlook 2007 to use the Autodiscover functionality (autodiscover.xml), you have probably seen this window many times:
