SYSTEM process takes high CPU on server in VMWARE

After upgrading to VMWARE 3.5 and VirtualCenter 2.5, the SYSTEM proces on our File server had an high CPU load (100%). This especially occurred when we were copying files from the file server. Killing the SYSTEM proces did not result in a lower CPU load.

Recover hard deleted items in Outlook

outlooklogoWhen you have hard deleted emails or appointments from Outlook, you can recover them with the dumpster. By default, the dumpster is activated only in your “Deleted items” folder. This means that, when you go to your “Deleted items” folder, and you delete an email that is in that specific folder, you can recover it with the dumpster. The dumpster is accessible by clicking Tools -> Deleted Items Recovery.

Excel 2007 error: Different format than specified by the file extension

In some cases after upgrading to Excel 2007, you may get the following error:
The file you are trying to open .xlsx is in a different format than specified by the file extension. verify the file is not corrupted and is from trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?

Defragmentation: defragment servers remotely with WMI

xplogoDefragmenting servers can be quite a time-consuming task if you have plenty of servers and plenty of disks. Most system administrators will have scheduled tasks on every server to defragment every month or so. A disadvantage of this way of working is the lack of overview what servers need to be defragmented. Microsoft’s Scriptcenter has a solution for this ‘problem’: Defragment all servers from one location with WMI. When running the script, it gives you return codes so you know the result of each defragmentation.
